As you may know, getting Raspberry Pi computers is challenging. Some might say impossible. I started looking at Mini PC from Amazon. Mini PCs are affordable and are much faster than the Raspberry Pi. I always let the Raspberry Pi have a bit of a pass because they were so cheap. No more, I say NO MORE. Except for the rover, it will be built using a Raspberry Pi.
This begins a new journey with the rover and my projects. I will start a new project using a MiniPC and Raspberry Pi Pico for sensors. I have not given up on the rover, but I must get mission control working well.
I shared a LinkedIn post asking if I should build the server using Microsoft Windows or Linux. Either is fine with me. I have work experience with Windows and have hobby experience with Linux. Once the poll closes, I will begin the project.
Mission goals:
- Show everything from start to finish, including where to download and how to build.
- Determine hardware and software requirements for the project
- Build a new server
- Design and build the database
- Design and build the PHP back end to record the data in the database
- Design and build the sensors
- Design and build/print the sensor cases
Sharing goals
- Document my progress on this blog
- Document the instructions in the KB within this site
- Create YouTube videos showing the steps.
- After a substantial part of the project is complete, I will publish the YouTube videos on AEC Workbench.
I have an Amazon page here if you are interested in the parts list. I will update this list as the project moves along.
