Quick update on the solar test and thoughts.
Solar Test is still going. I had a day of rain which did not provide much sunlight, which was good for the test. The Bench Test unit with the same hardware except for no solar panel finally ran out of power in the afternoon. The solar unit is still going strong, but I don’t know how strong.
Here is an image I captured from inside the solar test unit. It’s not as good as the previous versions but I can see the lights. That’s really all I need for now.

To do additions:
- Find a way to measure the voltage of the battery. The challenge is that I need to find a way to turn off the solar during the voltage testing. After redoing this blog, I read through my early posts and talked about a relay. That may do the trick as I would only activate the relay to measure the voltage of the battery, and as an added benefit, it would add a little load to the battery during testing.
- I am working on a project at work that is very simular to the technology for this project, IOT sensors. That should give me an excuse to get the knowledge base back in shape. I found that I reverted back to the KB a few times. If I find it helpful maybe you will as well.
- I need to start sharing this project again to get some traction. But I want to get the KB in better shape and at least the instructions on making a smaller 4-wheel version done first.
- Need to build mission control that will display the current status of both units.
