AA NiMh battery test version 2 (Updated)

Started version 2 of the unofficial AA NiMh battery test today.

The last test with these fully charged 2450mHa batteries from Ikea lasted 21 hours.  This time I added an “Icstation LM2577 Mico USB DC Voltage Regulator Step Up Boost Converter Power Supply Module 2V-24V to 5V-28V 2A (Pack of 4)” You just got to love the title of the stuff on Amazon.

Let’s see how long it will go this time.  I am hoping for more than 24 hours.   Let the countdown begin.

Test Parameters:

  1. Fully charged batteries
  2. Added Boost Converted and set it to 5 volts
  3. Connected to the USB power port on Pi for safety this time.
  4. Running my python script from the last test to record the current date and time to a file.

Funny note: I said in my Adam Savage voice when connecting the last wire, “AA NiHh battery test version 2, starting now!”

Results:

Start: 9:46 am

End 3:51 am

Total run time: 18 hours, 5 minutes

Not as good as without the booster.
